IBM's New Smart E-mail Search

IBM's new search engine called IOPES allows users of its Lotus Notes Software and Microsoft Outloook to search their mail based on specific criteria such as dates,phone numbers. Search is done through a browser like interface and the results are displayed in a Google like format. Users can enter search data using very basic language.For example to find John's phone number just key in"John's phone number". To see emails sent from John just key in "from John" You can also not only search for emails sent from John but also emails sent from him during a particular month by keying in "Mark from April 2007". The product is now available for download on IBM's alphaworks site

Earthrace To Break Speed Record

The Earthrace is a 78 foot wave piercing trimaran(It's got three hulls) which runs on pure Biodiesel.It's three hulls are designed to go through the waves rather than over them thus improving speed in rough seas.On the 1st of march 2008 Earthrace will attempt to break the world speed record for circumnavigating the globe. The current record is around 74 days set by British boat Cable and Wireless Adventurer in 1998.The Earthrace will try and bag it in 65 days at an average speed of about 25knots (Top speed is 40 knots). The Hog's now on Apple's iPod

Apple iPod users can now hog over their iPods all the more. Sega's 16 - bit sensation Sonic, The Hedgehog is now available in the games section of iTunes for just 5$ which is much cheaper in comparison to the Wii version which sells at 8$. The game has got some neat features as well which is not found in the original. You can substitute the game's sound track with one of your own and still retain a few of the sound effects. You also have the option to save anywhere during the game.(Very useful when you're playing with it at work and your boss abruptly pops in). You also get support for multiple players which enables you to share the game with someone else even mid way through the game.

Anti Aging Drugs?

Researchers from sirtris pharmaceuticals claim to have developed a new type of drug which would slow down the aging process. The drugs they say would target mitochondria, the cellular power generators that provide our bodies with chemical energy. As we age our mitochondria accumulate damage which ultimately results in the malfunctioning and breakdown of our tissues and cells. Some scientists believe that diseases like Cancer, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's disease and Heart disease all share a mitochondrial route. So if you fix the mitochondria you just might fix aging itself. And it seems they have been testing it on rats.(which I personally think is a bad idea)

Microsoft has launched its Entertainment Desktop 8000 which basically consists of a wireless keyboard,wireless mouse and a USB hub with built in bluetooth. The keyboard features 4 rechargeable AA batteries along with other multimedia buttons such as play/pause, channel up and down, buttons for windows Media Centre, Vista Sidebar etc. You also get very elegant silver backlight to give you those extra techno-vibes . The Wireless Mouse is also rechargeable and connects to the hub via bluetooth. It's a five button mouse that has the usual three buttons on the top along with two extra buttons on the side which are customisable. Price $235(Yes It nearly costs as much as one of those N series phones, but then again nothing from Microsoft comes cheap)
